Story by Grace Kriegisch

Kriegisch Martial Arts has promoted its first student in Clarksville to black belt.

The dojo opened in 2010 and its first student, Anthony Carroccia, recently reached this milestone which was celebrated in ceremony.

The training, just over 3 years in length, culminated in a written exam, physical fitness test, karate test and weapons test. The karate exam encompassed self defense techniques, drills and forms as well as hands on applications of the material taught.

The weapons exam included traditional Okinawan weapons and also tested drills and forms and hands on applications of the weapons taught.

At least three other students will test for their black belts in the style of Ryukyu Hon Kenpo Kobujutsu or Okinawan karate and traditional weapons this year at the KMA dojo, which is located at 2690 Madison Street in Clarksville.

Kriegisch Martial Arts offers classes for students from age 2 (if accompanied by an adult) to adult, as well as Fitness Kickboxing for adults, age 16 and up.
