CLARKSVILLE, TN – The Customs House Museum & Cultural Center introduces its first ever branded cast-iron skillet created in partnership with Clarksville Foundry, Tennessee’s oldest foundry.
“We are honored to produce this iron skillet with the iconic 1898 roofline for the Customs House Museum,” said Charles Foust Jr., owner of Clarksville Foundry. “I’ve been in conversation with Executive Director Frank Lott about this for quite a while. The Foundry’s long legacy in Clarksville, combined with the new capability of 3D printing the tooling made this project a perfect fit with the mission of Customs House. We plan for these to be available in time for the holidays.”
In connection to this endeavor, the Customs House Museum & Cultural Center will also present “Forged in Fire: The History of the Clarksville Foundry with Charlie Foust” at 3 p.m. Sept. 6 in the Turner Auditorium. The program is free and open to the public. Museum admission is not included with the program. Click here to register for the event.
Charlie Foust, owner of the Clarksville Foundry and a descendant of the multigenerational Clarksville family business, will share the history of the foundry and its enduring connection to the community. Foust will discuss the wide range of products created by the foundry over the years, the people and craftsmanship behind them, and the foundry’s place in Clarksville today.
The Clarksville Foundry has a long history of producing practical and enduring items for Clarksville and communities beyond, reflecting the craftsmanship and industrial heritage that have helped shape the region.
The limited-edition #5 skillet celebrates two important pieces of Clarksville history: the Museum’s iconic 1898 building and the city’s longstanding tradition of craftsmanship and manufacturing.
All proceeds from the sale of the Museum cast-iron skillet will benefit the Customs House Museum & Cultural Center, supporting exhibitions, educational programs and community outreach that preserve and share the region’s history and culture.
Due to the limited quantity, orders will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. The skillet is $125, with a $10 savings available for those who pre-order. Skillets will be available for pickup at the Museum or shipped in time for Christmas 2026. To reserve a limited-edition Customs House Museum cast iron skillet, contact Laura Cagaoan at 931-648-5780, ext. 2029, email lcagaoan@customshousemuseum.org or pre-order online at this website.
The Museum’s historic roofline is embossed on the bottom of each skillet, creating a distinctive piece that is both functional and collectible. Pre-seasoned and cornbread-ready, the all-American skillet is designed for everyday cooking or display as a unique addition to any kitchen.
