CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – As early voting moves forward in Montgomery County, one local organization has pushed to encourage as many people as possible to vote early and make their voices heard.

Clarksville Summit, an organization that dedicates itself to empowering underrepresented populations and promoting community values, organized the event at Veterans Plaza on Oct. 17 and 24, bringing food trucks, local vendors, and entertainment to the polls.

“Party At The Polls is basically an early voter block party. We did that to get people that normally don’t vote to come out and vote… We’ve got vendors, food trucks, and [performances],” said Event Coordinator Samaria Mims.

Despite the cold and rain on Saturday, over 2,500 people stood in line to vote early, keeping spirits high within Clarksville Summit. When asked about the turnout, Mims replied, “The line was wrapped around the building when I first got here, so the rain has not deterred the voters.”

The organization hopes to host future events like Party At The Polls to encourage all community members to make their voices heard. Party At The Polls was made possible through support from local businesses, community leaders, and concerned citizens.
