CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – The Clarksville Department (CPD) acquired a new mobile command center vehicle (MCV) this week.

Officials said several years of planning went into the procurement of the MCV, which will be used in critical incidents when multiple police teams would be deployed. The command center would serve as a communication and planning area.

The vehicle can be used in several scenarios, including special events, natural disasters, crisis negotiations, barricaded subjects, and long term field operations.

“The mobile command center offers the flexibility and versatility necessary to establish command operations for rapidly developing and changing situations,” CPD spokesman Jim Knoll said.

The MCV was purchased for $433,300. Approximately two-thirds of the funds came from illegal drug seizure funds, according to CPD.

“The MCV added a valuable, needed resource to the police department’s crime fighting tools necessary to protect the public,” Knoll said.
