CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Monday was a busy day all across the community as students began the 2021-22 school year with a half-day at Clarksville-Montgomery County Schools. Students are scheduled to return for their first full day on Thursday, Aug. 12.

Interim Director of Schools Angela Huff said she was happy to see the students, teachers and staff returning. “We are very encouraged to begin this new school year to see our boys and girls back in person,” Huff said.

Many parents along with other members of their family brought their youngsters for their first day at East Montgomery Elementary. For students who rode school buses, the teachers who greeted them wrote their bus number on the back of their hand to make sure they wouldn’t forget. East Montgomery’s enrollment is around 650 K-5 students.

At Richview Middle, teachers and faculty welcomed students back with fist bumps and wishing them a great first day. The enrollment at Richview Middle is close to 1,200 6th through 8th grade students.

There are more than 37,000 students in the school system with approximately 1,100 students enrolled in virtual school.
