CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The Clarksville High Wildcats and Rossview High Hawks each traveled to Dickson County High School for the region 7-4A tournament on Friday and Saturday.

CHS earned the region runner-up title after falling in the championship game, then bounced back with a win over Henry County, while Rossview was walked off by Henry County to end its season.

Tournament weekend recap

In the first game of the day on Saturday, Clarksville High and Dickson County went head-to-head with a region title on the line. A back-and-forth battle between the two squads saw Dickson pull away late for an 11-7 win, despite being outhit by the Wildcats 15 to 12.

The win gave Dickson County head coach Rodney Parker his first region title, and now the Cougars will host a sectional series to try to earn a trip to state for the first time in program history.

In game two, the Hawks and Patriots entered the seventh inning tied at 7-7. However, a walk-off from Henry County ended the Hawks’ season in dramatic fashion. The Patriots then had to bounce back quickly from the photo finish victory to face Clarksville High and fell 11-6 to the Wildcats, extending the Wildcats season by earning the region runner-up title.

Clarksville High will now travel to Houston High School for a three-game series with the Mustangs, with the right to go to the state tournament on the line this week.

The last time CHS traveled for a sectional series was in 2023, when they defeated Arlington in three games to advance to Murfreesboro. The Wildcats have been to the last three state tournaments, and four out of the last five.
