CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – (ESPN Clarksville) – Last week, the Clarksville Christian School (CCS) Lady Centurions basketball team was crowned Tennessee Christian Athletic Association (TNCAA) Conference Champion for the second straight year. Leading this back-to-back effort for CCS were Freshman, Sydney-James Desroches, who had 17 points and 10 rebounds and 8th grader, Maddie Bird, who added 16 points and 4 steals. Alexis Radcliff contributed 9 points and Madisyn Ogburn also chipped in 9 points on 3 out of 4 from 3-point range.
About her championship team, CCS Coach Margaree King-Richard said, “This year, our young ladies have grown tremendously on and off the court, and I’m extremely proud of their accomplishments! The work ethic and determination of each member of our team is unmatched, and trust me when I say, the best is yet to come! I thank God every day that I’m blessed to witness the emergence of this team’s greatness!”
Next up for the Lady Centurions is the National Association of Christian Athletes tournament, which will be held in Dayton, Tennessee next week. Last year, the CCS ladies finished 3rd in the national tournament and have their sights aimed higher this year.
CCS President, Dr. Brad Moser, said, “Our entire school is proud of Coach King-Richard and the tremendous success the team has experienced this year. Their success did not come by accident, but through hours and hours of hard work and preparation. These young ladies are winners on and off the court.”
At the TNCAA tournament, the Middle School girls’ team also won their conference championship title for the second straight year, and the defending conference champion CCS Varsity boys team earned the Runner-Up spot.
Clarksville Christian School opened its doors in August 2007 and is now entering its twelfth year of operation. CCS anticipates another record-setting year of consecutive enrollment growth in the 2019-20 school year.
