Update, 7:37 a.m. Friday: Montgomery County is under a Flood Advisory until 10 a.m. Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. “Between 0.5 and 1.5 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are expected over the area,” the NWS said. “This additional rain will result in minor flooding. Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.”

Update, 9:28 p.m.: Doppler radar is tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from 7 miles southeast of Paris Landing State Park to 7 miles southeast of Huntingdon to 7 miles west of Blue Goose. Movement was east at 35 mph with possible wind gusts up to 40 mph.

CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – A wet and unsettled weekend is in store, with multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms expected from Friday through Sunday, and a Flood Watch is in effect.

The highest rain chances will occur Friday night and Saturday, while slightly drier conditions are expected to return by the end of the weekend, according to the National Weather Service.

With 3 to 4 inches of rainfall possible through the weekend, and soils already saturated, the NWS has issued a Flood Watch through Sunday afternoon. “Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas.”
