CLARKSVILLE, TN – Clarksville Community Concert Association will host ~Nois Quartet 3 p.m., Nov. 22 at the George and Sharon Mabry Concert Hall, Austin Peay State University, 801 Marion Street. The internationally renowned, classically trained saxophonists will perform chamber music that is acclaimed for transforming preconceptions of ‘noise’ into an exceptional musical experience.
Nois is beyond honored to be bringing a selection of our favorite works on the road, from Chicago all the way to Clarksville, Tennessee,” Natalia Warthen, ~Nois alto saxophonist said. “With an afternoon that spans the potential of saxophone, composition, music-making, and even listening, this performance is not to be missed.”
Nois, comprising Warthen, Julian Velasco, Jordan Lulloff, and János Csontos has presented over 200 performances in 28 states and some of the top festivals, concert series, and academic institutions in the nation. The ensemble has worked closely with some of the world’s leading voices in composition to create new works for saxophone quartet, including Jessie Montgomery, Nico Muhly, Shawn Okpebholo, and Augusta Read Thomas.
Nois is the final concert in 2025 as part of CCCA’s five-concert series dedicated to making world-class music and live performances accessible to the Clarksville-Montgomery County community.
“We are absolutely thrilled to welcome ~Nois to Clarksville,” Daniel Christian, CCCA president, said. “This remarkable saxophone quartet redefines what we think chamber music can be. Their bold, nontraditional style provokes thought, challenges expectations, and invites us to listen with open minds and hearts.”
To get the most out of the experience, attendees should arrive at 2 p.m. for the 30-minute pre-concert talk, a behind-the-scenes discussion about the ensemble and the music they will perform.
“I hope everyone will join us in experiencing the wonder, creativity, and growth that comes from hearing this fantastic group live,” Christian said.
Regular admission is $25 with 10 percent discounts for seniors 65+, military, and educators. Student admission (18 and younger) is $5 and free for all Austin Peay students with ID. Individual livestream tickets are $20 per concert. Free parking is available near the concert hall.
“Come for an experience that challenges your perceptions of music – and leave with an entirely new concept of what is ~Nois,” Warthen said. “We hope to see you there.”
