CLARKSVILLE, TN – A key intersection near Exit 8 is almost finished, with the realignment of Rossview Road with Dunbar Cave Road.
In a joint effort between the City of Clarksville Street Department and Tennessee Department of Transportation, the project eliminated the offset intersection alignment between Cardinal Lane and Dunbar Cave Road. It features a new traffic signal that will enhance safety near the Rossview Schools Complex, according to a press release from city spokesman Jimmy Settle.

What had been the previous section of Dunbar Cave Road, before realignment, has been renamed Cavern Court. It now ends at a cul-de-sac and no longer connects to Rossview.
A portion of Rossview has been widened to three lanes near Keysburg Road. An earlier phase of the project facilitated the widening of Rossview to five lanes from the intersection at Cardinal Lane to Powell Road. A new traffic signal was also installed at Powell, the release said.

“Through our partnership with TDOT, this major piece of the Transportation 2020+ agenda addresses another high-traffic thoroughfare in our city, providing safer passage for motorists, including school traffic in the vicinity, with an emphasis on greater ease of navigation,” Mayor Joe Pitts said in the release. “We are thrilled to see this project coming to fruition.”
The total project construction cost of $11 million is funded at 80% by TDOT, with the City of Clarksville covering the remaining 20%. The contractor is Eubank Asphalt Paving and Sealing.
This project is one of many within the Transportation 2020+ comprehensive master strategy of highway and road improvements, as well as intersections and traffic signalizations, and new sidewalks. To view the entirety of the plan, visit https://www.clarksvilletn.gov/1043/Transportation-2020.
