CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month and each year the 19th Judicial District Attorney General’s Office hosts a Children’s Memorial Garden Remembrance Ceremony.
This year’s ceremony will be held Saturday, April 29 at 2 p.m. at the memorial garden next to the children’s playground at Swan Lake Sports Complex, 2002 Sanders Rd. The garden and the ceremony is to remember the children who have lost their lives because of violence that was inflected on them.
The names of 68 children who have lost their lives will be read, and 68 butterflies will also be released. Pinwheels, a symbol of child abuse prevention, will be placed around the area of the memorial garden.
The ceremony is open the public. Family and friends of many of the victims as well as members of local law enforcement who work with cases of children who have been killed and members of the district attorney’s office will also attend the ceremony.
