The death is being investigated as a homicide.
Nashville police said 54-year-old Joe C. Shelton Jr. of Pleasant View was killed Nov. 20 while he was driving on Interstate 24 near downtown Nashville.
It is not known at this time whether foul play is suspected.
Two of the homicide suspects are still at large.
According to police, the thieves broke into several shipping containers at the 2100 block of Wilma Rudolph Blvd. before they found one with the new washers inside.
