CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Police responded to a dog bite incident Wednesday, Nov. 6 around noon at a home on Lookout Dr.

According to a report from the Clarksville Police Department, Robert Eley, an enforcement officer with Building and Codes, visited the residence in reference to a complaint. There was no response when he knocked on the front door, and he went around to the back where he heard noise.

Antonio Lawson was in the backyard with his two dogs, which attacked Eley as he approached. Eley was bitten on the arm, hand, and leg. Lawson said the dogs did not expect to see anyone enter the yard and had been startled. He restrained both dogs around their necks and fell to the ground in order to prevent any further attack.

Eley was transported to Gateway Medical Center for treatment.

Police called Montgomery County Animal Control to verify the procedure for quarantining the dogs, and this procedure was explained to Lawson and the co-owner of the dogs, who was not present during the attack. The co-owner was unable to provide proof of rabies vaccination for the dogs and was issued a citation.

There is no further information at this time.
