CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – (Clarksvillenow.com) Clarksville High School and Vanderbilt baseball pitching star, Donny Everett, was laid to rest Tuesday, June 7 at Sango Cemetery. Everett died last Thursday after drowning in a lake near Manchester, Tennessee.

The funeral service for Everett was held at Faith Outreach Church. One of the most impressive and moving sites of the funeral were the close to 200 baseball players who lined Sango Road near Sango Elementary School as the funeral procession passed by.

The players, representing many local baseball teams, stood silent with their baseball caps covering their hearts. Many coaches along with family and friends, joined the young players along the roadway. Members of one team were especially saddened by Everett’s passing. Chris Proctor, Coach of the 10-U Clarksville Orioles Orange, talked about why the team was honoring Everett.

“With Donny’s passing, he played in the Orioles organization, came up through the ranks, and we just felt it would be a good sign of respect and show support for his family for us to go out there and just let them know that every baseball player is affected by him,” said Proctor.
