CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The Art Walk has returned after months of being away due to the rise in COVID-19 cases.
Usually the Art Walk is held every first Thursday, but due to the Easter holiday last week, it got pushed back.
Many people showed up for the first Art Walk, and many artists were there to showcase their work.
“The majority of them, I get inspiration from nature,” said Ashlyn Turner, who debuted her paintings for the first time on Thursday. “Usually I just throw paint on a canvas and the paint kind of shows me an idea of what to do.”
Other artists at the event had been doing this for a long time, like David Smith, who has been capturing the beauty of Clarksville through his lens for over 25 years.
“I’m just trying to promote our city, our beautiful city,” Smith said.
Art is not only limited to drawings and photographs, but to theater and dance as well. King Alvarado showcased an interpretive dance display at the DBO Gallery that embodied the Black experience through the company she founded, the Southern Black Arts Council.
“A couple of months ago, I learned that I wanted to use my art and my talent and help the community,” Alvarado said.
If you are interested in showcasing your talents, you can contact the venues on the Art Walk website.
