CLARKSVILLE, TN – The American Red Cross invites service members, their families and the surrounding community to help support the nation’s blood supply during Operation Red Eagle, a series of blood drives held in conjunction with the 2026 Week of the Eagles at Fort Campbell, scheduled May 15–21.
Week of the Eagles honors the legacy of the 101st Airborne Division and features a full slate of events, including the grand opening of the Tennessee Wings of Liberty Museum on May 15, a Division Run, air assault demonstrations, soldier skill competitions and veteran reunions. As part of the week’s activities, the Red Cross is proud to partner with Fort Campbell to host blood drives to help ensure lifesaving blood products are available for patients in need.
“Operation Red Eagle has the potential to be one of the largest blood drives ever conducted in the states of Kentucky and Tennessee,” said Sgt. Adams Guerrero, a 101st Airborne Division soldier, American Red Cross volunteer and Blood Program leader who helped coordinate the blood drive. “Every donor counts in this unparalleled effort to save lives of American servicemembers and citizens alike.”
This partnership builds on the American Red Cross long‑standing Services to the Armed Forces program, which supports active-duty service members, their families, caregivers and survivors. Through a global presence on more than 100 military installations and deployment sites worldwide, the Red Cross helps families stay connected during emergencies and provides critical support before, during and after military service.
In addition to emergency communication services, the Red Cross supports the health and wellness of the military community through behavioral health and wellness workshops, hospital and clinic support programs, peer support services and the distribution of care, comfort and therapy items.
“Service members understand better than anyone the importance of readiness and supporting one another,” said Joel Valdez, Regional Donor Services executive for the American Red Cross of Tennessee and military veteran. “We’re honored to partner with Fort Campbell during the Week of the Eagles to help maintain a strong blood supply and continue our long‑standing commitment to serving the military community.”
Blood donations are essential to help trauma patients, those undergoing surgery, cancer treatments and individuals with chronic conditions. The American Red Cross encourages eligible donors to roll up a sleeve and help save lives this May.
