CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Two men suspected of multiple vehicle burglaries are in custody thanks to an alert Clarksville citizen.

Police said the citizen called in a tip about a suspicious vehicle August 21 around 3 a.m. The caller said the vehicle had been driving back and forth through the neighborhood and stopping at the corner of Kathleen Ct. and Pam Dr.

When officers located the suspicious vehicle, a woman inside claimed to be waiting for two men who were looking for a dog.

Later that morning, residents in the Kathleen Ct. area started reporting overnight vehicle burglaries. The detective assigned to the cases was able to identify two suspects: James Adams and Billy Hollis.

The detective determined they were the men who had pretended to be looking for a dog during the same time frame.

James Adams, 20, was arrested and charged with three counts of burglary. He also had outstanding warrants for theft and escape. His bond was set at $100,000. Billy Hollis, 22, was arrested and charged with four counts of burglary, contraband in a penal institution, and drug methamphetamine violation. His bond was set at $150,000. Police found the meth and a counterfeit $50 bill in his possession when he was booked into the jail.
