CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – While the total, active COVID-19 case numbers are showing a decline, Montgomery County did experience 10 deaths since our last update regarding case numbers on Nov. 30.

The total jumped from 85 deaths to 95.

Since Nov. 30, when Montgomery County had 935 COVID-19 cases concurrently active, that number has shown a decline, as visually represented by the graph below from the the county’s COVID-19 dashboard.

14-day Daily Active Cases according to the Clarksville-Montgomery County dashboard.

The slight uptick in Monday’s active cases is due to the 171 new cases confirmed today in the county.

But again, keep in mind that tests are reported in batches, and the statistics often do not accurately reflect the true number of cases reported on that day. Montgomery County Director of Health Joey Smith stresses the importance of viewing the 14-day trends with greater importance than the single-day reports.

Additionally, the state of Tennessee passed a grim milestone Monday. The death toll from the COVID-19 pandemic has now surpassed 5,000. The TN Department of Health dashboard reports that statewide, COVID-19 is responsible for 5,009 deaths.
