CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Eric L. Hoosier, 52, also known as “Pancake,” was sentenced this week to 70 years in prison for shooting people outside a nightclub on Sunday, Jan. 12, 2020.

Witnesses said the incident started with an argument in the early morning hours between Hoosier and some other men at the Vintage Lounge,  1339 Fort Campbell Blvd.

Three men were shot. The victims were ages 60, 44, and 46 at the time. One of the victims, Jabbaul Pettus, was left a paraplegic, according to Assistant District Attorney John A. Stephens.

“Witnesses provided testimony that Mr. Hoosier initially shot victim Casey Montgomery before then repeatedly shooting Mr. Pettus, including while he was lying on the floor, yelling out he would kill everyone in the establishment and telling Mr. Pettus specifically, ‘You will respect me’ as he shot him multiple times and then struck him in the face with the firearm,” Stephens said.

The verdict

Stephens said Hoosier was sentenced to 40 years on one count of attempted first-degree murder in Judge Robert Bateman’s court. He was sentenced to 10 years in the Department of Corrections for one count of employing a firearm during a dangerous felony.

Stephens said Hoosier was also sentenced to 20 years on one count of attempted second-degree murder as well as 11 months and 29 days for reckless endangerment, and four years for reckless endangerment with a weapon.
