CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The Gateway Chamber Orchestra presents the Appalachian Spring concert with two performances:

  • Sunday April 19, at 3:00 P.M. – Mabry Concert Hall – Austin Peay State University
  • Monday April 20, at 7:30 P.M. – Downtown Presbyterian Church 154 5th Avenue N. Nashville

The orchestra performs Luciano Berio’s intimate and colorful Folk Songs, a cycle of eleven folk melodies, featuring mezzo-soprano Teresa Buchholz.

The contemporary work, “Deep in Liquid Indigo” by Christopher Chandler, winner of the 2013 Gateway Chamber Orchestra Young Composer’s Competition and the 2013 BMI Student Composer Award.

The concert concludes with Barber’s Adagio for Strings and Copland’s famous Appalachian Spring. The GCO performs Aaron Copland’s original score with thirteen musicians.
