CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Valentine’s Day is the biggie when it comes to culinary indulgence – and Clarksville has some locally-owned restaurants that are stepping it up for this romantic holiday. Here is a sampling of what is available.
The Looking Glass Restaurant, 329 Warfield Blvd., is known for its global cuisine inspired by chefs who trained at such star cooking schools as La Cordon Bleu. This year it will host its annual Valentine’s Day dinner on both Friday, Feb. 13 and Saturday, Feb. 14 with a 5:30 p.m. and a 7:30 p.m. seating, available by reservation only.
According to chef and manager Paul Campuzano, the special dinner will be a prix fixe menu of four courses for $40 (plus tax, gratuity and extra, per drink, if alcoholic beverages are ordered). The courses are appetizer, salad, entrée and dessert. The entrée choices are black-and-blue filet mignon, Chilean sea bass, quinoa with black beans and a “hunter’s platter” featuring duck and rabbit.
The pastry chef’s dessert choices for the dinner will be Grand Marnier crème brûlée and chocolate cake with raspberry sauce. For reservations call 931-552-6344.
(For those who want to avoid driving in Valentine’s Day traffic, The Looking Glass Restaurant will host a prix fixe dinner theater on Feb. 20; learn more at www.thelookingglassrestaurant.com/up-coming-events.)

Another locally-owned restaurant – Relish: A Unique Eatery, Bakery & Catering – will host a Valentine’s Day special on Feb. 14 during two time slots, 5 p.m. or 9 p.m., available by reservation only.
Relish manager Evie Humphrey says the special will cost $75 per couple, with the dinner including one appetizer to share, two entrées and a dessert platter to share. The four entrée choices are as follows: steak-and-shrimp kabobs, tilapia on rice, mostaccioli pasta and chicken fettuccine Alfredo. For a $10 cork fee, guests may bring their own wine or champagne. And in a special romantic touch, an acoustic musician will perform before Relish’s glowing fireplace.
The Roxy Regional Theatre is also serving up romance for Valentine’s Day with its annual special of dining and theater. “Martinis with the Angels” will take place at 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 14 at the theater, 100 Franklin Street.
The menu will include martinis, beer and the following hors d’oeuvres from Fire & Ice Catering: smoked brisket sliders, Bangkok lettuce wraps, Italian antipasto, grilled-cheese crostini with tomato-bacon salad. Dessert will be candied bacon-and-bourbon brownies. At 8 p.m., guests will be treated to a revue of The Roxy’s latest musical, “Honky Tonk Angels,” which includes such classic country standbys as “Coal Miner’s Daughter,” “I Will Always Love You” and “Stand by Your Man.”
Tickets for “Martinis with the Angels” are $50 per person and may be reserved online at www.roxyregionaltheatre.org, at the theatre between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. Mondays through Fridays or by calling 931-645-7699.
