CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Thirty years ago, Urban Ministries opened its doors to assist people of the Clarksville area with utilities, food, shelter, prescription medications and other basic needs.
The group has since expanded to open SafeHouse, a 24-hour emergency shelter to provide services to victims of domestic violence.
Over the decades, the organization has relied on contributions from supporters and volunteers to provide for the community.
In recognition of their 30th Anniversary, Urban Ministries is planning a fundraising banquet on Thursday, January 22, 2015. The event will be held at First Baptist Church in the Hope Building. Doors will open at 6 p.m. and dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m.
The event will feature musical entertainment and special speakers. Guests will also have an opportunity to make a donation to continue the work of Urban Ministries.
Those who wish to attend should contact Executive Director Beverly Dycus at 931-648-9090, 931-206-4977 or beverlydycus@urbanministries.us.
