The Montgomery County Veterans Treatment Court (VTC) and Soldiers And Families Embraced (SAFE) are currently working to make all local military resources, programs and services accessible through a single website, Allied Community.
Allied Community is a web directory of organizations providing resources in and around Clarksville, Fort Campbell and surrounding areas. Residents and visitors will be able to use the site to locate food pantries, counseling organizations, financial aid services, and more. The site lists contact information, links to social media, and a description of services.
“Clarksville has so much to offer, especially for people who need help. This site could be used as referral guide for organizations, or to help an individual. We’re really excited about this project and confident that it will be a great asset to Clarksville.” Said Jennifer Laboe, a veteran and Social Work intern at SAFE.
The site is expected to grow significantly by the end of the year. Long-term goals include posting volunteer opportunities, an area events schedule, and information on locally owned businesses.
Allied Community is looking for organizations to add to the directory. Not every organization has easily accessible information about all of their programs, especially smaller non-profits, which is why Allied Community needs help to complete the directory.
“We want to include organizations that empower Clarksville. Maybe they host AA meetings, help with mortgages, or do resume building workshops. If we can get these organizations accessible in one location, then people would be able to find what they need, when they need it,” said Katelan Shartzer, AmeriCorps VISTA, serving with VTC and SAFE through APSU’s CommunityStrong Program.
Organizations can learn more about Allied Community and how to get involved by visiting the website or by contacting alliedcommunity@outlook.com.
