CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Clarksville Academy has forfeited its week 3 matchup against Grace Christian Academy due to a lack of available players.
During a preseason practice on Aug. 10, first-year head coach Rob Rininger told Clarksville Now it would be a challenge to navigate the season with an 18-player roster.
Through two weeks of the 2026-27 regular season, that 18-player roster has since been reduced to 12 available players following a handful of injuries during the Cougars’ matchup against Fort Campbell.
The lack of available players forced Clarksville Academy to forfeit its Week 3 matchup against Grace Christian Academy. After forfeiting, the Cougars fall to 0-3 on the season and have been outscored 86-0 through their first two games.
CA Athletic Director Sean Wilson told Clarksville Now that given the combination of player injuries, current extreme heat conditions, and limited player availability, “we believe this is the safest and most responsible choice for our student-athletes.
“Player safety and well-being remain our highest priorities. Our commitment to the strength and growth of our football program is unshakeable, and we fully intend to complete the remainder of the 2026 schedule as soon as our team can safely return to the field,” Wilson said.
