CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – After breaking ground in November 2024, Kroger will hold the grand opening of their fourth store in Clarksville – this one a larger Marketplace location – on Wednesday, Nov. 5, at 9 a.m. on Needmore Road.
The new 123,000-square-foot Kroger Marketplace will feature a Starbucks, Murray’s Cheese, a fuel center, and expanded selections beyond groceries, including clothing, appliances and home goods, according to a press release.
“This $41 million investment reflects Kroger’s continued growth and commitment to the Clarksville-Montgomery County community,” said the release. The new store is expected to create approximately 150 jobs for local residents.
Kroger’s history in Clarksville dates to August 1946, when it opened its first location at 403 Madison St., according to Leaf-Chronicle archives. That location later moved down the road to its current shopping center on Madison. There are two other locations, on Dover Crossing and Lowe’s Drive.
The ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Kroger Marketplace will take place at 2015 Needmore Road at 9 a.m., but the doors will open at 8 a.m.
Free breakfast bundle coupons will be dispersed to the first 100 guests. All guests in attendance on Nov. 5 can enter to win free groceries for a year. Also, guests in attendance on Nov. 5 can also enter to win Kroger’s brands bundle raffle.
Kroger is expected to donate $5,000 to Manna Café Ministries at the event as well.
Correction: Kroger’s first Clarksville location opened in August 1946.
