CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Bella’s Closet has provided free clothing and accessories to women in Clarksville for the past six years. After a few moves around town in their early years, the nonprofit organization has created a permanent home at 108 Kraft St. and is eyeing future growth.
Cynthia Pitts co-founded Bella’s Closet in 2019 with her close friend Carolyn Watson, said the move to their own facility on Kraft Street has been exciting.
“Oh my gosh, it’s amazing; we feel so blessed to be here,” Pitts said. “It’s so exciting because we can serve the women that come to our boutique.” She added that they have grown 70% since they moved into their new location.
Evolving mission
As Bella’s Closet has grown, they’ve also expanded their mission. “At first, we were just focusing on women that were going out into the workforce. We ended up finding out there are women every day in the workforce that need assistance with clothes,” Pitts said.
When Bella’s Closet started, the focus was on business attire, but now Pitts says they offer anything a woman would need. “When they come in, we can give them a complete outfit and they can fill their whole wardrobe,” she said.
In 2025, one of their goals is to help women to get into a place where they can be successful. “We can clothe them, but what is the next step? We are hoping in 2025 to do some educational pieces,” she said. They want to partner with other groups to not only provide women with clothing, but to help them get the job and to get extended education to help them grow in their careers.
How to help
Bella’s Closet is a nonprofit that runs on donations from the community. “That way, when women come in, everything is free, they don’t have to pay a dime for anything, so we love donations,” Pitts said.
Bella’s Closet is also collecting children’s clothing, Pitts said they have moms coming in and they need clothing for their children, so they are collecting clothes for newborns, up to the age of middle school.
If you would like to support the organization, they will soon be holding their first fundraiser. The Bella’s Closet Fashion Fundraiser will be Saturday, Feb. 8, from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at The Emerald Clarksville, at 2631 41-A Bypass. Tickets are $25 which will include brunch, a silent auction and a runway fashion show. Tickets can be ordered on the Bella’s Closet Eventbrite page.
Bella’s Closet, 108 Kraft St., is open Wednesday-Friday from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Pitts said anyone can make an appointment by going to Bella’s Closet on Facebook, or just stop by, or call 931-624-6716.
