CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Rodney Davis has announced his candidacy for Clarksville City Council, Ward 9.

Davis, a resident of Clarksville since 2014, is a former member of the Tennessee Board of Regents at Dyersburg Community College, appointed by the governor. He’s a local business owner, a public notary here, a school teacher at Clarksville-Montgomery County School System, a financial services specialist and a Realtor.

Prior to moving to Clarksville, he co-founded a nonprofits organization that helped underprivileged kids who couldn’t read and write. To do this, he partnered with local businesses and the school board. “I am asking for the citizens of Ward 9’s vote so that I can build these partnerships within the communities here in Clarksville,” he said.

“I believe that we need to bring in a major attraction to Clarksville such as an aquarium, water park, museum or theme park,” he said. “This will attract tourists from all over the country increasing the revenue coming into Clarksville. This will in turn give us the new tax revenue that we need to help lower our property taxes and remove the burden off homeowners, while also giving us new tax revenue to actually take care of our roads and infrastructure problems, build more schools, pay our policemen, firefighters and teachers the pay they deserve so they will stay in Clarksville, take care of our veterans, make greenways available to every community, and provide funds to build new technology centers to ensure that our kids and our city is ready for the future. Technology Centers will also give us a better opportunity to bring in more white collar jobs that are vital to the long-term success of a city that is growing as fast as ours.”

Davis and his wife, Tina, have five children and two grandchildren.
