CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – A number of Austin Peay State University baseball players were selected in the 2024 MLB Draft on Tuesday, July 16.
In round 11, the Governors had two players selected: senior infielder Jon Jon Gazdar and senior right-handed pitcher Titan Hayes. Gazdar joins the St. Louis Cardinals organization after being selected with the 321st pick, and Hayes was drafted by the winningest team in baseball currently, the Philadelphia Phillies, with the 342nd pick.

Meanwhile, senior two-way player and All-American Lyle-Miller Green was chosen in the top of the 17th round with pick 499 by the Chicago White Sox. A round later, senior right-handed pitcher Tyler Hampu was selected by the Colorado Rockies with the 528th pick, according to the MLB Draft Tracker.
Jon Jon Gazdar, St. Louis Cardinals
Gazdar joins the St. Louis Cardinals organization after coming off a junior season where he batted .405 with 96 hits, 21 doubles, 13 home runs and 55 RBI’s. He also held an on-base percentage of .484, slugging percentage of .667 and struck out only 14 times, according to APSU Athletics.
Gazdar spent the past two seasons with APSU and spent one season with Chabot College before making his move to Clarksville’s hometown team.
Titan Hayes, Philadelphia Phillies
Hayes joins the Phillies organization after appearing in 15 games for the Austin Peay Governors.
In those 15 appearances, the 6-foot-2 right-handed pitcher tossed 20.2 innings pitched, struck out 25 batters, while earning an ERA of 3.48.
Before making the move to APSU, Hayes played for San Jacinto College, Cisco College and Cowley College. The Phillies selection also made eight apperances in the MLB Draft League, striking out eight batters in 9 innings pitched, according to APSU Athletics.
Lyle Miller-Green, Chicago White Sox
The White Sox could be acquiring the steal of the 17th round after selecting Miller-Green, who is coming off an All-American campaign in 2023-24.

Miller-Green finished in the top 5 in all of Division-I baseball in home runs, RBI’s and slugging percentage. He also finished top 10 in on-base percentage, according to the NCAA.
In total, the 6-foot-5 prospect compiled a batting average of .393 in 2023-24 with 86 hits, 17 doubles, 30 home runs, 94 RBI’s and a slugging percentage of .900. In addition, he had an on-base percentage of .533 as a senior.
Miller-Green had spent the past two years with Austin Peay, but he previously played for the likes of Oklahoma State, Chipola Junior College and George Mason, according to APSU Athletics.
Tyler Hampu, Colorado Rockies
After spending two seasons with the Governors, Hampu joins the Colorado Rockies organization following a senior season where he appeared in 24 games.
The 6-foot-2 right-handed pitcher compiled 29 innings pitched in those 24 games played, along with 27 strikeouts and 2 saves, according to APSU Athletics.

Before his time with APSU, Hampu played for Colby Community College, including in 2022 when he only pitched 27.2 innings, but struck out 47 batters.
