Cold cases include murders from years past that remain unsolved. Those aren’t the only crimes, though, for which the rewards have gone up. Crime Stoppers announced at the event that it has doubled its reward point system, bumping up payouts for all tips that result in an arrest.
The Blue Jean Ball is the main annual fundraiser for Crime Stoppers, which helps local law enforcement solve crimes, recover stolen property, catch wanted fugitives and convict criminals. Crime Stoppers is a nonprofit that operates solely off of donations to provides rewards for confidential tips.
This year’s ball included dinner by Nicoletta’s Catering, live music with Syd Hedrick, plus a live and silent auction. A line dance instructor kept everyone in step.
“We had a great turnout tonight for the Blue Jean Ball, and we couldn’t have done it without all of our table sponsors and our title sponsor, which was TVA and CDE Lightband,” said board member Erin Yow. “Thankfully, their partnership allows us to put on a fun evening like this so we can continue to spread the message of Crime Stoppers, what we do in the area, and how we’re trying to keep our community safe.”
