CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – In an effort to combat food insecurity for military families and veterans, the Grunt Style Foundation held a food deployment on Saturday at Mosaic Church.
Tim Jensen, president of the Grunt Style Foundation, said 38,000 pounds of free food and commodities were being handed out during the drive-thru food distribution to help close to 500 families and veterans from Fort Campbell and the surrounding areas.

“There’s a significant problem within the military community right now of food insecurity with active-duty forces,” Jensen said.
Jensen said that between 1 in 3 and 1 in 6 families are on some sort of federal assistance while on active duty. They are having to worry about putting food on the table, rather than training towards military duties.
YAIPak Outreach volunteers from Clarksville assisted in helping the families by giving out hundreds of free food and hygiene bags.
Sherry Nicholson, founder of YAIPAK, said each family was receiving one bag of canned goods, one bag of dry goods, and one bag of hygiene items. Operation Stand Down Tennessee was another supporter of the event.
