FORT CAMPBELL, KY (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Early Saturday afternoon, 129 soldiers with the 1st Battalion, 101st Aviation Regiment, were welcomed home at Sabre Army Airfield from their nine-month deployment to the Middle East.
Family, friends, and fellow soldiers cheered and applauded as the Screaming Eagles marched into the hangar and were greeted while in formation by Col. Clint Cody, commander of the Wings of Destiny 101st Combat Aviation Brigade.

Cody thanked the families of the soldiers for the sacrifices they have endured over the last nine months and told the soldiers it was wonderful to have them home after everything they have done.
“It was phenomenal work supporting our country downrange and now having them home here with their families, I can’t explain it. It’s awesome to be on this side of it. I’m usually the one that’s coming home, but seeing it from this side, it is just great to have them home safe,” Cody said.
The “Task Force No Mercy” returned to their loved ones after their deployment to the region of Iraq and Syria, serving and completing their support of Operation Inherent Resolve and Operation Spartan Shield.
