CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The high school football postseason kicked off this past week, and after the initial round of the playoffs, only one Montgomery County team remains: Clarksville High School.
Clarksville Academy, Northeast High and Fort Campbell High all fell short of advancing to the next round of the playoffs as their seasons come to an end.
However, Clarksville High (8-3) was the one team that escaped their elimination game on Friday. The Wildcats hosted Overton (6-6) and swiftly defeated the Bobcats by a score of 47-14.
Clarksville High’s offense was led by senior running back Jamar Carnell, who was a part of the Wildcats backfield that diced up Overton’s defense. Carnell scored three rushing touchdowns.

History was made during their playoff win as well. The win over Overton marked the 52nd career victory for CHS Head Coach Isaac Shelby. With the win, Shelby moved into second place in all-time wins in program history.
Shelby mentioned after their latest game that it was great to open up the playoffs with such a dominant home victory. He said the team loves having home field advantage, and the players and staff have continued to use it to their advantage. This was the Wildcats’ first home playoff win since 2007 as well.
He said the biggest difference between this year’s team and previous teams he’s coached is that the team is 100% willing to give it all for the better of the team. This has been the case throughout the 2022-23 season.
Clarksville High’s playoff push continues this week at Cane Ridge (11-1) to take on the Ravens Friday, Nov. 11, with kickoff at 7 p.m.
