CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The community will welcome home Clarksville resident and U.S. Paralympics Silver Medalist SSG R Heath Calhoun Saturday, April 19.

Calhoun is a wounded warrior who traveled to Sochi, Russia to compete in the 2014 Paralympics, where he won the silver medal in super combined sit-skiing. He served with the 101st Airborne Division and was injured in Iraq in 2003. Read more of his story here.

Clarksville will celebrate his homecoming with a Welcome Home Ride form Outlaw Field (200 Airport Rd.) to Appleton’s Harley Davidson (2501 Hwy 41-A Bypass).

The formation begins at 11 a.m., and bikes will leave at noon. Calhoun will be escorted down 41-A, right onto Riverside, and end at Appleton’s.

5 Star Radio will help lead the convoy, and radio personalities will be stationed at various points along the route, including Tradewinds Shopping Center in the 1500 block of Fort Campbell Blvd. and the Two Rivers Shopping Center on Riverside Dr.

Visitors at these sites can pick up flags and materials to make signs.

A meet and greet session with Calhoun will be set up at Appleton’s upon arrival of the riders, following a brief ceremony at 1 p.m. in which Mayor Kim McMillan will present a proclamation to Calhoun.

Supporters are encouraged to bring signs, cowbells, horns, and other items to cheer for Calhoun along the route and at Appleton’s.
