Restaurant Review by Pamela Holz, Realtor with Reliant Realty
When I asked my friend if she wanted to join me for lunch at Miss Lucille’s, she was confused. “Isn’t Miss Lucille’s an antique store?” The Café has only been open for about three months, so her confusion was legitimate. There is not yet a sign on the exterior of the building to proclaim the Café’s arrival, but this new addition to the Clarksville food scene is a very welcome one.
The interior of the Café reflects the feel of the Marketplace. It is an eclectic scene of found tables and treasures, gathered together in an artful mix that makes you feel as though you are enjoying lunch with family. Depending on the size of the crowd, you may find yourself at a large table with a half-dozen new friends. There are smaller tables, as well, but the communal feel adds a fun twist to your dining experience.
Miss Lucille’s menu offers a variety of options. There are classic sandwiches ($7.50)—Fannie’s Chicken Salad, Willie’s Smoked Brisket Sliders, Babe’s BLT, Sadie Mae’s Grilled Cheese. There are the signature sandwiches ($7.95)—Chic-a-dee Pita, California Gobbler Wrap, the Edgy Veggie Panini, and the Wilbur Panini (yep, there is ham on that one!). They also offer soups ($3.25-4.50) and salads ($8.75), along with interesting sides ($1.85-2.50) and desserts.
My friend ordered Babe’s BLT. She described it as “the best BLT she had ever had.” There was “a freshness” to it that she hadn’t experienced in a BLT before. She gave me a corner of the sandwich to try, and I had to concur. It was just good.

I chose The Edgy Veggie Panini—mushrooms, asparagus, red onion, tomato along with Boursin cheese and a pesto aioli. The combination of the rich mushroom with the crunch of the fresh asparagus along with the combination of onion and juicy tomato melded together with the cheese and aioli made for an incredibly delicious and filling lunch. I only ate half the sandwich and wrapped up the other half to take back to share with friends at work. There was no sharing of my side of Couscous Caprese salad… the heaping cup of couscous pearls glistening in a delectable bath of oily sundried tomato-feta yumminess slid down easily, disappearing and leaving me wishing for more.
If you are seeking a gem of a restaurant, you will enjoy discovering Miss Lucille’s Cafe. It offers a charming location to enjoy a break from exploring the 52,000 square feet of vendor booths, or a hearty alternative to the faster food chains on Madison Street.
