CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Rickey Ray has announced his bid for re-election to the Montgomery County Commission, District 4.
Ray, who has lived in Montgomery County all his life, will run as an independent. He is retired from Nyrstar Zinc Plant after 40 years of service as the safety principal.
“I have tried to be the voice of the people in my district and address all problems and issues that were brought to me. I also tried to vote in accordance with the wishes of my constituents,” Ray said. “My desire is to continue to work for the people in my district to keep our taxes low and to preserve our quality of life.”
He is an active member and past president of Central Civitan, past president of Cumberland Heights Utility District, member of Lone Oak Baptist Church, an active member of Harley Owners Group Tuckessee Chapter, and Palmyra Lodge 747. He is a 32nd degree Mason.
In the last four years, he has served on the following committees: Building & Codes, Fire Protection, Highway Commission Liaison, Public Safety Training, Rules Committee, Agriculture Committee, School Liaison Committee, Budget Committee, Delinquent Tax Committee, Purchasing Committee and Nominating Committee.
District 4 covers the portion of south Montgomery County between Highway 48/13 and the Cumberland River, from the Southern Hills area of Clarksville down to roughly Louise Creek.
Ray’s wife, Saran Jones Ray, is a retired high school educator. They have five children and four grandchildren.
