CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Wallace Redd, who has served terms on both the Clarksville City Council and the Montgomery County Commission, recently announced his candidacy for county mayor.

“My wife Helga and I raised our three children here in Montgomery County. We take pride in our county and the people who live here.”

Redd said he is running in the May Republican primary on a platform of responsible government. He said the county needs to exercise more fiscal restraint in its management and look to the private sector to provide for high-dollar entertainment venues.

“I am running for mayor because it’s time for change,” Redd said. “As a city councilman and former county commissioner, I am proud of my record of saying no to bad ideas, more taxes and high debt,” Redd said. “I am not ‘hand-picked,’ so I can listen to the people and work for them.”

A graduate of Marshall County High School, Redd has taken additional course work at the University of Maryland and Baptist Bible College. In addition, he has received specialized insurance training and is licensed in life and health insurance. He is also a graduate of the NCO academy in Baumholder, Germany. Redd served his country starting in 1978 with the U.S. Army and served at Fort Campbell in the 101st Airborne Division. Redd has served on the Republican Party State Executive Committee and as the parliamentarian for the Montgomery County Republican Party.

Currently, the Redd family manages their residential rental business, Redd Properties. Redd is also the pastor at Sugar Creek Baptist Church in Woodlawn, where he has been for the last seven years.

In addition to being a longtime sponsor of The Christian HOPE Foundation in Haiti, Redd is a life member of the Disabled American Veterans, member of the Tennessee Farm Bureau, National Rifle Association, Tennessee Firearms Association, the Blackhorse Association, the International Brotherhood of Magicians and is the founding member of Right Way Clarksville.

Redd said he can be reached anytime at 931-216-5640 with questions or comments.
