CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – New Providence Middle School is the latest Clarksville-Montgomery County school to close due to COVID-19, after a cluster of positive cases forced the school to shut down for the rest of the week.
According to a notice sent out NPMS parents, there were nine positive COVID-19 cases reported in the last six days at the school. Traditional students will move to remote schooling for the rest of the week. The school plans to reopen in-person Monday, Nov. 9.
Rossview Middle School had to close the week of Oct. 19 due to a cluster of positive COVID-19 cases.
“Please know that I understand a change like this presents challenges for families. We must all work together during this pandemic to keep our children and employees safe,” NPMS Principal Scott Wainwright said.
“I ask parents and guardians to please ensure that you support us by not sending your children to school or any other activities if they are sick, exhibiting symptoms, awaiting COVID-19 test results, and most importantly if they are quarantined or are known to be positive for the virus, even if they don’t have symptoms,” Wainwright continued.
For questions regarding subject-specific information, Wainwright asks that parents email their child’s teacher directly or call the school.
The notice also reminded parents of access to meals throughout the closure.
“Families who need access to no-cost meals during this remote learning time may pick up meals at any CMCSS elementary school. Meals for this week are available Wednesday, November 4 from 1-2 p.m. Weekend meals are available Friday, November 6 from 1-2 p.m.,” Wainwright said.
