WASHINGTON, D.C. – Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel announced today that the president has nominated Army Maj. Gen. James C. McConville for a position in Washington, D.C.

According to a news release from the Department of Defense, McConville would be promoted to the rank of lieutenant general and assignment as deputy chief of staff, G-1, U.S. Army, Washington, D.C.

He is currently serving as the commanding general, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) at Fort Campbell and Combined Joint Task Force-101, Operation Enduring Freedom, Afghanistan.
