NASHVILLE, Tenn (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Monday, May 5, Senator Bill Powers (R-Clarksville) announced that Houston County Community Hospital is set to receive $100,000 in a Rural Hospital Readiness Grant. Powers made the announcement after being notified by officials in Governor Bill Lee’s administration.
“This is extremely good news,” said Sen. Powers. “This hospital is vital to Houston County and I’m very glad to support the efforts to provide these needed grants.”
The grant is part of $10 million in Small and Rural Hospital Readiness Grants that are going to support hospitals facing financial strain due to the ongoing response to COVID-19. The funds were authorized by the General Assembly before recessing in March as part of the appropriations bill. The grants are capped at $500,000 per hospital.
Sen. Powers added, “We must make sure that our hospitals and health care workers who are on the front lines, have the resources they need to stay safe, serve patients, and combat the spread of coronavirus. They are heroes to all of us. I will also continue to work with local, state, and federal officials to ensure we have the equipment and resources needed to provide for the health care needs of our communities.”
