CLARKSVILLE, Tenn (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Clarksville Gas & Water is joining with utilities and organizations across the country on October 23 for the fifth annual “Imagine a Day Without Water” campaign, a day of education and advocacy about the value of water.
Clarksville will be one of a thousand organizations nationwide raising awareness about water and the crucial need for investment in public water systems.
Gas & Water will host an open house from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, October 23, at the City water treatment plant and invites the community to come out and meet local drinking water providers.
Councilwoman Valerie Guzman, chair of the City Council Gas & Water Committee, will present an “Imagine a Day Without Water” proclamation from Mayor Joe Pitts. Facility tours will begin at 11 a.m. Please call the water plant at (931) 553-2440 to sign up and get directions.
Turning on the tap for clean, safe drinking water, and flushing the toilet with no second thought about what happens to wastewater, are actions most Americans take for granted every day. But drought, flooding, and population changes are stressing water and wastewater systems.
