CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) Plans are moving ahead for a proposed branch of the Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library in north Clarksville and a site has been chosen as a possible location.
Library Director Martha Hendricks says officials have chosen 435 Jordan Road near the intersection of the Purple Heart Parkway for the site. Hendricks said several sites were promising, but the 10+ acre site they decided on was well-priced and had many attributes they wanted in a location.
The property will cost $660,000 which is below the $800,000 the Montgomery County Budget Committee had approved for a land purchase.
Hendricks said other location qualities that determined the choice included a traffic light for easy access, visibility, and a site near schools and residential areas.
“One of the biggest things for me also is that it’s right at the intersection of two large highways and people can just zoom in from different parts of town and it’s just there, so it’s going to be convenient for a lot of people,” Hendricks said.
She said officials are hoping to finalize the deal by January 2019.
