CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – It was not your typical birthday party. Mayor Kim McMillan issued a proclamation, as did Rep. Joe Pitts, along with a letter from the Governor for Mrs. Ruby George during a celebration held in her honor.
What made this a special occasion was the fact that Miss Ruby as she is called, turned 108 years old on Thursday.
Surrounded by friends, family and a few local dignitaries, Miss Ruby looked much less than her 108 years as she made her way into the party room at the Clarksville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
During some questioning Miss Ruby was asked about her secret to longevity. She said that she had stopped dipping snuff… then added, “last year”.
