CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – A substantial reward has been offered for a missing service dog in Clarksville.
Chance is a 100-pound Bernese mountain dog whose job is to help his owner, 9-year-old Ashton, cope with the symptoms of his autism. Ashton’s mother Debi says Chance comforts him when he has nightmares and helps him during the day when he experiences rough patches.
“He is an important part of our family,” Debi said.
Chance has been missing since September 11 when he was last seen in the backyard on Chestnut Drive (near Fort Campbell Blvd. and Lafayette Road). His family is beginning to worry and hopes someone has information about his whereabouts.
The dog is micro-chipped and was wearing a collar when he went missing.
After hearing about Chance, several people have come forward and offered to donate to the family in the form of reward money. Debi said one person in particular donated a ‘sizable amount’ but did not say how much. She said the family isn’t interested in soliciting money; they just want their dog to be returned home safely.
“Chance is not just a dog,” Debi said. “Chance is a working dog. He needs to come home and help out his little boy.”
Anyone with information can call Debi at 931-249-8118 or family friend Lourdes at 607-261-0525.
