CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The William O. Beach Civic Hall was filled with supporters of local agriculture Friday evening for the 59th Annual Awards Banquet and Farm-City Program. The event was sponsored in part by the Montgomery County Soil Conservation District and the Clarksville Downtown and Hilldale Kiwanis Clubs.

A number of awards were given out including the 2013 Outstanding Farm Family which went to the Robert and Stacy Menees family. Their children are Alan, 19, who is an APSU Freshman, Rachel, who is six years old, and Owen, who is four.

The Menees operate a total of 600 acres in Montgomery County, Allensville, Kentucky and Russellville, Kentucky. The family lives at 3732 Guthrie Road in Clarksville where they farm 75 acres of cropland. They farm 95 acres in Russellville and 270 acres in Allensville.

They have a total of 440 cropland acres plus 60 acres of CPR ground. The family grows 200 acres of corn, 225 acres of wheat, 220 acres of double crop soybeans and 27 acres of tobacco. Stacy works hard on the farm and is also the bookkeeper as well as a full-time mom. Robert is helped by his dad, Jimmy and his brother Jim on the farm.

The Outstanding Farm Family award was presented to the Menees family by Katie Gambill, Chairman of the Clarksville Area Chamber of Commerce.
