Riverfront Jerk Festival
The Third Annual Riverfront Jerk Festival is set for Saturday, September 23 from noon to 10 p.m. at McGregor Park in Clarksville.
This free event features authentic Caribbean food from Jamaica, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Trinidad, Guyana, and South America. Entertainment includes live reggae, salsa, and steel pan music while dozens of craft and food vendors will line the sidewalks along the popular Riverwalk.
Jazz on the Lawn
Jazz on the Lawn is Saturday, September 23 at Beachaven Vineyards & Winery. Clarksville Jazz Quintet will perform.
Live music begins at 6:30 p.m. and goes until 9:30 p.m. and the event is free. Because seating is “general admission,” it’s beneficial to arrive about an hour early to get both a good parking spot and a good view of the band.
Butterfly Festival in Oak Grove
The 9th Annual Butterfly Festival will be held on Saturday, September 23 at War Memorial Walking Trail Park, 101 Walter Garrett Lane, Oak Grove, Ky.
The event is free and features science experiments, kids crafts, bubble zone, face painting, train rides, and more. The butterfly release at 4 p.m. will include more than 1,200 butterflies. The festival will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Pets and coolers are not permitted.
‘La La Land’ at Movies in the Park
Movies in the Park — the City of Clarksville’s free, outdoor movie series — continues on Saturday, Sept. 23 with the showing of the award-winning “La La Land” at Liberty Park’s amphitheater, 1188 Cumberland Drive.
Pre-show activities, coordinated by the Clarksville Parks & Recreation Department, will begin at 5 p.m. and include:
• Liberty Live outdoor concert featuring a local artist
• Special ‘La La Land’ inspired performance by Acro Dance Express.
• The popular Culver’s Frozen T-shirt Contest.
