CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) The Clarksville Regional Airport is hosting the public and fly-in traffic in a free event for the historic solar eclipse on Monday, August 21. The airport is located directly in the region identified by NASA for optimal eclipse viewing.

Airport officials say observers at the airport will see approximately 2 minutes and 18 seconds of totality which is among the longest lengths in the nation and the airport will offer an unobstructed viewing area for this once-in-a-lifetime event.

Food trucks will be on site selling food, drinks and desserts. There is a paved parking lot and grassy area available for parking. Those attending should have their own viewing glasses and are cautioned that regular sunglasses will not protect your eyesight from viewing the eclipse.

Everyone is welcome to bring coolers, blankets or tents for shade. Tents must be staked into the ground to keep them from blowing away. Visitors are also responsible for removing and disposing of their trash and are asked to bring their own trash bags.

The event will go from Noon-3 p.m. on August 21 at the Clarksville Regional Airport, 200A Outlaw Field Rd. For more information visit www.clarksvilleregional.com/solar-eclipse-2017, or call 931-431-2080.
