CLARKSVILLE Tenn. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) The Clarksville Rotary Club celebrated 100 years Wednesday at the Wilma Rudolph Event Center. The evening, attended by around 200 guests, featured dinner, both a silent and live auction, entertainment from the Roxy Regional Theatre’s Kit Kat Club, special recognition of Rotary members, and a fireworks finale.
Rotary’s motto “Service Above Self” continues to be highly recognized throughout the Clarksville community and the number one reason of the Clarksville Rotary Club’s existence. Just last week the Rotary Club donated a cannon cast by the Clarksville Foundry to the community which now sits on the lawn of the Montgomery County Courthouse.
In 2016 the club shared in the creation of the handicap accessible playground and splash pad which was built at Heritage Park. Other major projects over the years have included a $30,000 commitment for the Rotary International Avenue of Flags at McGregor Park, $100,000 to the playground at Liberty Park, the purchase of 100 acres, now known as Rotary Park, two Habitat for Humanity houses, and a $25,000 donation to Civitan Park.
