FORT CAMPBELL, Ky. – The Screaming Eagle Foundation (501(c)3), which supports the men, women, and families who served or are still serving in the 101st Airborne Division, is once again partnering with Woodford Reserve to provide scholarships.
Last year following Memorial Day, the Screaming Eagle Foundation was able to donate $5,000 to the 1LT Eric Yates Memorial Scholarship that provides scholarships for the Reserve Officer Training Course (ROTC) at Western Kentucky University with the help of their partners at Woodford Reserve.
During the campaign, Woodford Reserve conducted a bottle etching on behalf of the Screaming Eagle Foundation in the memory of First Lieutenant Yates, a member of the 101st Airborne Division’s 1st Battalion 502nd Infantry, who’d commissioned from Western Kentucky University’s ROTC Program and lost his life serving with the Screaming Eagles in Afghanistan in 2010. The Screaming Eagle Foundation will continue to support the scholarship in his memory and has plans to add two additional ROTC programs in Kentucky.
To honor your service member and support the Screaming Eagle Foundation, Woodford Reserve will be etching bottles at several locations and dates in the Louisville/Elizabethtown area as well as Fort Campbell, Kentucky from May 11 to June 16. For each etched bottle a minimum donation of $5 will be made to the Screaming Eagle Foundation.
For those who wish to visit the Woodford Reserve Distillery, they will be etching bottles for donation over the Memorial Day Weekend from May 26 to 29. For those outside the Kentucky area who wish to support program, this year etching is also available through Reservebar.com.
Visit the Screaming Eagle Foundation’s website for the exact locations and times.
“We are very excited to once again be able to partner with Woodford Reserve to honor the memory of our 101st Airborne Division’s Soldiers and our nation’s service men and women by providing scholarship opportunities to the Army’s next generation of leaders attending Kentucky’s ROTC Programs,” said Randal Underhill, the Screaming Eagle Foundation’s Executive Director. “We had such a great response last year, and we once again hope to honor our fallen and to support those who would bravely volunteer to follow in their footsteps of service.”
