FORT CAMPBELL, Ky. – The Fort Campbell’s Retirement Services Office is hosting its annual Retiree Appreciation Day in conjunction with a Veterans Benefit Fair and street fair Sept. 24 at Soldier Support Center (SSC), 2701 Michigan Ave and the Town Center Park.
These events are part of the Fort Campbell Soldiers and Families Appreciation Week event lineup, which honors of the contributions and sacrifices made by military Retirees, Veterans, survivors and their Families.
The Veterans Benefit Fair will host more than 20 organizations including the Department of Veterans Affairs, Disabled American Veterans, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Tennessee Veterans Home, all of which will be available for one-on-one assistance. A health fair will also be held during the Veteran Benefit Fair. Prior service members who have not retired from service and who are eligible for care in the Tennessee Valley Healthcare System may obtain Flu and Pneumonia vaccines at the health fair, which will begin at 9 a.m. at 2702 Michigan Avenue. TN Valley staff will be on hand to distribute immunizations, provide basic health screenings, and enroll eligible Veterans not currently in the TN Valley Healthcare System. Veterans are required to bring their VA enrollment card or DD214 to the health fair as proof of eligibility. Registration begins at 7 a.m.
Immediately following the Veteran’s Benefit Fair, Fort Campbell Retirement Services Office will hold its annual Retiree Appreciation Day. A health fair hosted by Blanchfield Army Community Hospital is included in this year’s appreciation day. Wellness checks and immunizations will be provided during the health fair, which begins at 1:30 p.m. at the SSC. Representatives from the Fort Campbell Legal Assistance Office will also be on-site to create powers of attorney for Retirees and their Families. Sergeant Major of the Army (Retired) Kenneth O. Preston will be providing remarks during both the Veteran Benefits Fair and Retiree Appreciation Day events’ opening ceremonies.
Lastly, a street fair will run from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Town Center Park, across from Division Headquarters. Merchandise vendors and food trucks will be available along with static displays of helicopters, bounce houses and face painting.
