CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) Our Hometown Hero for August is a wonderful young lady, 15-year-old Morgan Davis, who has been working in her community to help those in need and actually started her own mission work when she was just 12.
Davis is a sophomore at Muhlenberg County High School East Campus, in Greenville, Kentucky
When she was turning 13 Davis started donating her birthday every February to helping the homeless, those who are hurting along with the helpless and the broken. Each year on her birthday there is a big party where all are welcome and it has become a community event.
At her party, items are donated to help with her cause and then they are sorted, boxed and loaded for delivery. On the first year of her birthday mission work, two U-Haul trailers full of toiletries, food, clothing and other items were given to the Nashville Rescue Mission.
It all started with Davis and along with the support of the community, it has grown into a year-round ministry helping people, families and organizations. The list includes hospitals, cancer centers, homeless shelters, crisis closets and many others.
Davis was asked how she felt about being a Hometown Hero. “I’m very honored and blessed that I was chosen to be a Hometown Hero. I’m super thankful to all of the people who have voted and supported me in my mission and God has truly blessed me beyond measures,” said Davis.
Her mother, Jennifer Davis, says Morgan is so caring and loving and always puts others before herself. She goes above and beyond in her everyday life to make a difference in the lives of others. She truly is an inspiration and my hero.
